The Formation of Luca Pacioli from the Period of his Perugia Lectures to the Publication of His Summa de Aritmetica Geometria. Proportioni et Proportionalita (1494)

In this article I want to examine the process by which Luca Pacioli gained his con- siderable knowledge of geometry in the period from his lectures in Perugia (1477-1480) to the publication of his Summa de Aritmetica geometria. Proportioni et Proportionalita in 1494. I shall take a biographical approach and address the problems related to Pacioli becoming a magis- ter theologie, his presence in Florence, Naples, and Rome, and his gaining of his geometri- cal knowledge evident in the Summa.
